  There is nothing in the software sales pitch to indicate that you have to buy a new version every year, but apparently Corel has a different opinion. Read 2 more reviews about Pinnacle Studio. Pinnacle Studio is so unstable that it continuously crashes and is very unusable, do not waste any resources on it! Ultimate doesn't work. You didn't even bother to make one. I really want my money back.
